How is morphine measured when given through an IV?

Ever since I had my gallbladder out I have been having episodes of intense pain, sometimes to the point that I have to go to the hospital. I had never had morphine before until I started going to the hospital during all this. During the past five months I had to have five morphine injections through an IV. I don't particularly like having to be given morphine all the time but it's the only thing that sort of, key words, SORT OF works to calm the pain. So my question is how is morphine measured (mg, ml, cc, etc) when given through an IV? And was in a normal dose? The last time I was in the hospital they gave me "400" of morphine and then about fifteen mins later another "400" of it. That seems like an awful lot to me and I could feel it tingle through my body but maybe that's actually normal? I'm just curious.

Kitten Cleaning Issue?

My kitten is now about 10 weeks old, and she's fine in every respect apart from she doesn't really groom her rear end, so she tends to smell a bit. I've had several cats before, and have never encountered this problem. She's eating well, had her first injection, and generally is very bouncy. Severely enlarged tonsils with no pain?

Me and everybody that knows me have agreed that my tonsils are probably the gnarliest, nastiest looking tonsils they've ever seen. Not pus wise. My left one is pretty in flamed and has signs of yellowish streaks on it. Weird not clumps or balls of food just like yellowish whitish streaks all over the tonsil but its not that noticeable unless i look real closely in the mirror. The left one is not the problem. Although the right is one is so huge that it is literally dipped into my throat probably halfway, well at least thats how it feels. It is one huge puffy not hard but firm tonsil but when it ends on the bottom is another pink colored firm fleshy tonsil looking growth. They are both the exact same size almost and same color texture almost as if it is made of the same tissue/tonsil. But it is one then it gets a little smaller and another tonsil-looking lump hanging from it in to my throat. It doesnt hurt at all ever, not even to swallow. But it does feel like I have something lodged in my throat and it feels irritating to swallow saliva because nothing makes the feeling go away. Eventually it goes away on its own for a little while and comes back. Then sometimes I have trouble breathing through my mouth so it seems. It hurts if I press on it from the outside under my chin on the side under my jaw like on the neck you can feel the right one since it is so inflamed. I cant really see no pus on the right one but the other day I gargled salt water with a few drops of lime juice and I coughed up to little mushy yellow balls. They looked like tonsil stones but when I saw them I immediately squooshed them with my fingers to feel the texture. They easily pulverized into a mashed potato like substance that smelled awful. These were probably tonsil stones, I dont know. But the problem remains the super huge right tonsil. That looks like a pair of testicles almost. Im 17 I used to smoke cigarettes for almost a year, stupid of me ******* myself up so young, came to my senses and stopped. Hopefully the damage hasnt been officially done and its far away from cancer of the throat. But still I want these gone. Ive been prescribed ampicillin, penicillin (oral & injection), amoxicillin, salt & lemon gargles nothing works. I even went to an ancient mexican healer that healed swollen tonsils by "breaking" some nerves in the neck and arm. (last resort) My father was healed that way and never had problems with his tonsils ever again. But it did not work on me. Some doctors recommend a tonsillectomy but honestly i dont want to get rid of my tonsils, not so much because I need them but Im the kind of person that doesnt like something being ripped out of his body unless its a life and death situation. Im thinking of homeopathy. I dont know, what other options do I have?

My sweating is absolutely out of control help?

I'm 21 years old and female. When I was younger I always had like a "shiny" face from it either being oily or sweaty, but thought it would subside as I got older and went through puberty and all that. But now it's horribly, horribly worse than it was. Whenever I bring up or encounter the slightest stressful situation my armpits literally "cry" and it runs down my arm and onto my hands and it's the most embarassing thing, especially being a girl. This small amount of bicarb dissolved in the milk is the only raising agent, so I'm thinking that the lemon juice is there for more than flavour. I'm also wondering if I should just use more bicarb?

My 15 month old wants to eat nothing but bread?

My daughter is 15 1/2 months old and up until a few weeks ago was a great eater. She wasn't picky and ate good sized portions. However, since about the middle of May she refuses anything I try to feed her, including foods that were previous favorites (yogurt, mac & cheese, etc.) She eats a bite or two and that's it. Instead she brings me the loaf of bread (no matter how where I put it that I think it's out of reach) and cries until I give her a piece. She easily eats 4 slices a day, sometimes back-to-back. She's also started drinking between 50-60oz. a day which is almost double what she was before. I've tried feeding her before she gets her cup but she refuses the food every time until she gets her cup. I did talk to her pediatrician when this first started and he said it's normal for a toddler's appetite to go down until about the age of 2 but is this more extreme than he was talking about? If so, how do I get my healthy eater back??? And should I be concerned???? (More than I am, obviously.)

Was running great, but the last few times I used it, it's been running rougher and rougher, like the gas was getting too old. When it ran real rough, brought it home quick, it died and won't start now. It's not getting the gas. Electrical is fine. At the end of trying to start it I do get "the buzz" sound. I am on the depo provera jab (the contraceptive injection) which lasts for three months at a time. In the first three months i experienced no bleeding whatsoever, which was great. I'm 15 and i was at baseball practice yesterday, and as i was taking some infield practice i felt a sharp pain in the back of my elbow. The pain was in the back of my elbow about an inch up almost in my tricep. After that pain, my arm had a dead or hanging feeling where it felt like i couldnt lift it. When the bread is done baking its best to let it sit for 5 minutes in the pan. After 5 minutes the top of the bread will be cool enough to handle. With an oven mit on the hand holding the pan and your other hand on top of the bread turn the bread over onto your hand and it should, with a little jostling, slid out. Then you can place on a cooling rack or an unused baking sheet to cool. If it isn't coming out then it may have been improperly greased and you'll have to just serve it from the bread pan. Ive found that after greasing the pan, dusting with cinnamon sugar helps release the bread from the pan and gives it a nice crust.

Dog with prostate problem, please help? ?

My nearly 6year old dobermann has had ongoing prostate problems for 2years. He is treated with 2medications to reduce the size and to treat possible infection. Our intention is to have him neutered. Two weeks ago he went to the vets with the symptoms of enlarged prostate, he was again given 2medications and an injection for pain and anti inflameation relief. Within 2days he was back to his usual self, eating better and more active, he was to be cartsated 2to 3 weeks after the treatment. About 1week after he had been to the vet he began having stiffness in his rear end and one leg seemed painful. He had problems getting out of his bed and walking. Again straight to vets, who said the prostate was enlarged but less so than the previous week. He was given pain relief and antibiotics to treat a possible infection. I was concerned it could be cancer, but, the vet said it's unlikely and to wait until he finishes his treatment. She said if he doesn't improve over the 5days to bring him back. Today he seems to have better movement and is toileting well and no blood in urine. I am still worried it could be cancer which has spread, but if it were would antibiotics (noroclav 500mg) and metacam mask cancer symptoms? I'm worried but don't want to over react as it's only 2days since starting treatment and I notice improvement. Any help is appreciated.

Is the crust of a loaf of bread more dense than the inside of the loaf?

I was wondering this because I think that when eating a sandwich, the most bland part of the sandwich is the crust as opposed to the middle. This lead me to believe that the crust is actually denser than the middle. Does anyone have any answer to this with legitimate sources? I need to prove someone wrong very badly.

How Do I Finally Get To Play Infield In Baseball?

Well, without knowing a few things about u its hard to say. Im not going to say the hustle or work hard BS.. Cuz it has nothing to do with that as long as u are handling that. One factor u have to look into is your size.. Some coaches like to put the stronger more built players in the outfield.. Also speed has a big factor. If u have blazing speed.. Id put u in the outfield so u can cover more ground. But playing outfield is not an insult.. Most of the greatest players of all time are outfielders. But.. I know the infield is fun.. I played short stop myself. The only advice I can give u is to start fielding ground balls on a daily basis. Not just shots hit right at u.. But work on your range. Then if your coach sees that u want it that bad or if u just tell him that you have did your practice and u want a shot to prove yourself.. I dont know of a coach that won't give u that chance. Stand up for what u want. Tell your coach.. U want a chance. He'll give it to u.. Just don't blow it when u get your oppurtunity

Whats the deal with left handed infielders?

Seriously. Im the best infielder in my age group of like 40 kids by a long shot, never make errors, but i never get a chance because I'm left handed. So heres the story. I'm a freshmen who plays baseball. I love everything about it. I love watching it and playing it. I am very flexible about where I can play. Both outfield and infield. Since I'm a freshmen, I've never met the coaches. I've been a decent player since the days of little league and I intend to play varsity eventually. I made the team this year after tryouts (which went pretty well) but now the season has started and I suck. I have a zero batting average after 4 games and I tried out for pitcher but my curveball wasn't working, so the coaches think it is weak. I don't know if I should talk to them or something. They stick me in right field when they can. but otherwise I play left. (barely any action happens at right.) I've dropped fly balls in the outfield, and made an error or two. I get vibes from the coaches that they don't think I'm as good as everyone else on the team, but they've told me they like my attitude and that I try hard. I've struck out a few times and gotten walked a few. I feel so bad that I am barely motivated to play next year. How can I come back and impress my coaches so they play me where I want to play or am meant to play

I'm 21 years old and female. When I was younger I always had like a "shiny" face from it either being oily or sweaty, but thought it would subside as I got older and went through puberty and all that. But now it's horribly, horribly worse than it was. Whenever I bring up or encounter the slightest stressful situation my armpits literally "cry" and it runs down my arm and onto my hands and it's the most embarassing thing, especially being a girl. When I'm hot I sweat, when I'm just getting out of the shower I sweat, after I put on anti-perspirant I sweat, even when I'm normal temperature or cold I sweat. I've seen my doctor about it and besides treating my anxiety and depression, he says there's nothing that can be done unless I pay for botox injections but I'm scared I might have some disease or deficiency of some kind. Anyone experience this type of thing? What can I do?

Don't rely on the little foam earplugs, get an over the head set. They also make them with radios built in. I prefer this, as I can listen to the radio broadcast while at the race and actually know what's going on. The track always broadcasts MRN/PRN's broadcast on a low number station (90.5 or so) so you don't have to worry about reception problems. You can also rent a FanView scanner that comes with ear protection, a little tv, all of the current race stats and such. Totally worth the money, though they're a little pricey at $50. You've already invested as much money as you have, invest $50 more and actually know what's going on during the race. Sunscreen is a must, as well. Bring your own food and drinks unless you like $4 warm Cokes and $10 overcooked chicken fingers. We usually grab Subway on the way to the track along with 2-4 frozen bottles of water to keep us cool. They melt throughout the day, providing coolness and water to drink. Sunscreen, food, SHOES, and ear protection. A cheap pair of binoculars help, as well. And sunglasses. Good luck and have fun! You'll soon know why so many of us are fans! It takes a while to go to our first race, but our second race is usually no more than 6 months later, you get hooked on the stuff!

As long as you burn more calories than you take in, then it's still worth it. I would recommend exercising after eating [and digesting, don't want to throw up! :P], because you would feel more satisfied knowing you just burned off that meal. I would like to use my bread machine to mix my bread then transfer the dough to a 8x4 loaf pan. The pan that comes with the machine is a 9x5. Is it possible to mix the dough in the pan that came with the machine then dump the dough into a loaf pan and put it in the bottom on the machine and bake it? I was a late starter in baseball, I started when I was 11 (I'm 14 now) my first year of little league was awful. The next year I hit a growth spurt, went to some camps and hitting instructors and I hit about .600 hit a double or triple almost every game and had one homer. The next year on the big diamond I hit around .300 which is somewhat below average for my league, then that year in fall ball I only hit about .250 not to mention the pitchers weren't even good. My horse has allergies?

My 13 year old quarter horse has allergies. His hair is peeling off his face and he has rubbed his tail. He is wormed regularly and just had his blood tested and the vet is thinking allergies. The vet gave him a steroidal injection due to his immediate symptoms. The blood test came back neg for parasites. It has been almost a month a it's not really getting any better. Plus almost all switch hitters in the Major leagues started hitting lefty, and then moved to hitting righty. Trust me, it is way more easier to switch from lefty to righty than it is righty to lefty. All you need to do is focus on your right handed batting. If you start lefty now, that is taking away time from you improving your right handed swing. And since you are in high school (I hope), baseball is starting to get real competitive and you don't want to do anything that could damage your talent. And no, practicing lefty will not help your right handed swing in any way.

You are a (thin) teenager and do not need to think about having eaten too much, there's plenty of time for that when you hit 60. ;) You should incorporate some vegetables and fruit into your diet, have eggs or cottage cheese along with your cereal at breakfast and have a snack between breakfast and lunch (a cheese stick and an apple, half a sandwich, trailmix, carrot sticks and ranch, etc.).

Hi there! I know it is pretty normal to be scared of needles but I think I have a phobia. Every needle/pointy thing scares me, pins, thumb tacs, badges and DEFINITELY INJECTION NEEDLES. I eat a lot of food in one day, today I ate for breakfast a piece of toast with peanut butter on it with a cup of milk (this was at 6:30 ish) 2 hours late I ate a piece of toast with butter on it, for lunch at 12:30 I had a piece of grilled chicken, I Also ate within an hour around like 2 an apple, low fat yogurt, and a cracker with a piece of pepperoni, for dinner I'm eating turkey meat loaf and a small baked potatoe. This is obvious too much food. I work out every other night, which it includes about 5 push ups, 30 crunches, wall sits, and 30 sit ups. I also run a few days a week sometimes 5 days...my boyfriend made me promise I would eat atleast 3 meals a day because at one point I was eating only two meals and no snacks. the way I'm describing myself may not sound fat but I look it, I have small fat deposits between m arms and breasts and when I lie on my side the fat in my stomach shifts to the side of my body closest to the floor. On top of this I have no butt too so I don't get anything good about being fat. Please give me some advice, I am getting so frustrated with myself. btw my boyfriend says I could gain some weight and I've asked him to stop saying it because I dont feel that way.

I hit in my basement everynight. almost. i have good athletic ability in soccer basketball and baseball ofcourse. im tall lanky. throw hard, good curve. i field really well. i like to throw tennis balls or anything against a garage door a lot. i get mostly soft toss in my basement. bc i live where it snows. but i get live pitching on the weekends in the summer and spring and fall from like mid march to late november. my family knows a lot about baseball and can help. i have the drive to become a pro baseball player. so basically i hit everyday well like 5 or 6 times a week. sometimes everyday. pretty good. tall lanky hard throwing good curveball pitcher. good fielding skills i play anywhere. mostly shortstop, 3rd base 2nd. can play 1st and catch. i guess i concider myself athletic. i can make a lot of cool plays in the infield. im relatively fast. run like a 6 minute mile. i know a lot about baseball mechanics and history of baseball (not that history will help me get better) and i love baseball. so if you could, give me advice or anything. What's the name of Hostess' mini angel food cakes?

I'm pretty sure it was hostess that sold these but I used to get them a lot as a kid at gas stations. Each package came with two mini angel food cakes, that were in the shape of tiny loaves, and they had this pink glaze/topping on them that was kind of hard on the surface. They look a lot like zingers but I'm pretty sure that's not there name cause the 3 flavors that showed up when I googled zingers weren't it.

The breadmaker's pan is 13 cm deep. When I bake a wheat loaf it comes right to the top of the pan - sometimes above. Have tried about 4 different recipes and the typical result is about 9 cm high. Some have collapsed down to that height. I really want a 13 cm high spelt loaf. Help!
